In 2012 it was estimated that there were 10.2 million Filipino’s living and working abroad. The size and impact of this diaspora has created entire business sectors that serve them. Known as Offshore Filipino Workers – or OFW for short – they make up a large part of the workforce in several countries, such as Singapore and Saudi Arabia.
Since they live abroad, OFW often have different needs than locals which is why some business sectors deliberately create products and services tailored for them. Once such sector is financial services. It may seem as though a bank account is a bank account, but the majority of offshore Filipino workers send money home to their family every month. This means that there are some very specific requirements that they have that most other people do not.
This website is designed to help identify some of those financial services requirements, in areas such as personal loans and banking. We hope that it is helpful to you.
